Declutter Your Home

For a lot of people, having a cluttered space is a nuisance, but it doesn’t feel like it has any kind of major detrimental effects on their well-being. While there are varying degrees to which a space can be cluttered, research has actually shown that it might be affecting you in more ways than you think.

In fact, clutter can have significant effects on our mental and physical well-being. Clearing out the junk and organizing your space almost invariably always leads to higher levels of contentment and a more stress-free life.

In this first-ever blog post from Clutter King, we’ll take a look at some of the ways that clutter influences your well-being. As professional organizers, we’ve seen the measurable impact that a freshly organized space can have, and it’s our goal to help as many people as possible in the Houston area, we want everyone to have that peace and satisfaction.

Clutter Increases Stress

In many studies, clutter has been shown to raise the levels of the “stress hormone” cortisol. That’s right, even if you don’t realize it, you’re probably getting subconsciously stressed out by my messy environments — which is one reason it feels so good when all that clutter is removed.

Clutter Decreases Productivity

Has anyone ever argued that working in a highly messy and unclean area is more productive? Do you see anyone actively recommending to make a mess in order to get things done more effectively? Well, we can’t speak for you, but we’ve certainly never seen that, and for good reason — clutter subconsciously competes with your attention.

Even if you’re not giving deliberate thought into your surroundings, research has shown that it’s harder to laser-focus on a task when you’re working in a messy environment.

Clutter is a Safety Hazard

While you’re unlikely to sustain an injury from the number of commemorative figurines on your work desk, the same might not be true for an overly messy garage or a highly disorganized kitchen. Clutter-related accidents are nothing new, and many people hurt themselves because they didn’t notice the obstacle on the floor that shouldn’t have been there or the degree to which their cabinets were stuffed.

While most adults have the common sense and awareness to prevent themselves from hurting themselves in such ways, the same can’t be said for children. Reducing clutter is good for your own safety, but it’s especially important if you have little tykes running around.

Declutter Your Home For a Happier Healthier Lifestyle

We’ve only just scratched the surface of the impact that clutter can have on your life. In fact, extensive studies have been done on the matter, and we could devote many blog posts to exploring this concept deeper. But for this post, it suffices to say that clutter stresses you out, makes you less productive, and can even be dangerous — even if you don’t realize it.

That’s why Clutter King offers a wide variety of clutter organization services. We’ve organized it all — from garage storage solutions to home office organizing to storage unit elimination, we are extensively experienced in organizing spaces and decluttering areas.
